Tech Barcelona is a private, nonprofit association that represents and helps connect Barcelona's tech ecosystem, bringing together entrepreneurs, investors, corporates, researchers and institutions.
Tech Barcelona works to connect entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, executives, investors and researchers, from different sectors and domains, empowering them to shape the future of tech.
Through our community, our activities, our spaces, and our strategic connections, we help innovation flourish. We accelerate growth, strengthen collaboration across sectors and support the ideas and venture shaping the future.
We work to ensure the ecosystem's voice is heard — locally, nationally, across Europe and all over the world — contributing to the policies, partnerships and initiatives that matter.
Tech Barcelona was created in 2013 by entrepreneurs who believed Barcelona needed more than promising startups. It needed a stronger ecosystem, a shared ambition and the infrastructure to make innovation visible and connected.
Miguel Vicente was one of the key driving forces behind its creation. Together with Ignasi Costas, he helped promote the association, while Miquel Martí led its development as CEO. Under his leadership, Tech Barcelona brought together a platform capable of connecting founders, investors, corporates and institutions around a shared ecosystem project.
2013
The year Tech Barcelona was founded
That vision became tangible with the opening of Pier01 in 2016 at Palau de Mar, giving Barcelona's tech ecosystem a physical home for the first time.
Since then, Tech Barcelona has grown into a broader platform for the ecosystem, expanding its campus, launching new initiatives and strengthening its role as a European innovation hub connecting the people and organisations shaping Barcelona's tech future.
Tech Barcelona exists to help Barcelona fulfil its potential as one of Europe's leading tech capitals.
It believes ecosystems do not grow through isolated success stories alone, but through connection, trust and shared infrastructure. That is why Tech Barcelona brings together the people and organisations shaping the future of technology, from startups and scaleups to investors, corporates, research centers and institutions.
Its role is not only to support entrepreneurship, but to help the ecosystem become more connected, more visible and more ambitious. To create the spaces where ideas meet execution. To strengthen the bridges between research and business, local talent and international opportunity, private initiative and public ambition.
Tech Barcelona backs the people building what comes next, and works to ensure Barcelona has the platform, the voice and the collective momentum to lead as a European innovation hub.
Tech Barcelona is shaped by a team that drives the day-to-day work and a board made up of leaders from across the ecosystem who help guide its direction.
Together, they bring execution, perspective and long-term ambition to a project built to strengthen Barcelona's tech ecosystem.
